Consider adding an llms.txt file on Shopify

hygiene.llms_txt.missing · effort: minutes

Why it matters

llms.txt is a proposed convention for a short Markdown file that points AI tools to your most useful pages. It is optional and no search engine promises to use it, so treat it as a low-cost extra rather than a ranking factor.

The fix

  1. Shopify serves /llms.txt by default; it mirrors the store's /agents.md, so most stores need to do nothing. If the scan still reports it missing, check Online Store, Preferences for password protection and Settings, Domains for the connection status.
  2. To publish your own text, add a template named llms.txt.liquid in the theme's templates folder (Online Store, Themes, Edit code). It replaces the default for /llms.txt only. To change what AI tools see on every agent URL at once, edit agents.md.liquid instead. Only the request and agents Liquid objects are available in these templates.
