Add structured data to the homepage

seo.indexability.structured_data_missing · effort: about an hour

Why it matters

Structured data is a small block of code that tells search engines who is behind the site, for example the name of the organization and the site. It can improve how your name and logo appear in search results, but it does not change rankings by itself.

The fix

  1. Add a JSON-LD script with Organization and WebSite data to the homepage. Use your real name, address of the logo (at least 112 by 112 pixels) and social profiles, and only describe things that are on the page.
  2. Check it with the Schema Markup Validator (validator.schema.org), which checks any schema.org type. Google's Rich Results Test only covers the types Google shows as rich results. Fix the errors they report.

The examples use example.com. Replace it with your own domain.
