Point the canonical link at your own domain on WordPress
Why it matters
The homepage names another domain as its original, which tells search engines to show that site instead of yours. It is a common leftover from a staging site or a domain move.
Staged change. Do this in stages and check each one before the next, so a mistake does not break your site or your mail.
The fix
- Check that the link is not deliberate, then open Settings, General and make sure WordPress Address and Site Address use https://example.com. A staging or old domain there is copied into the canonical.
- Also check your SEO plugin for a custom canonical set on the homepage, then clear caches.
The examples use example.com. Replace it with your own domain.
