Replace the default WordPress tagline in the title on WordPress
Why it matters
The homepage title still carries the text WordPress ships with ("Just another WordPress site" or its translation). It shows in search results and browser tabs, tells visitors nothing about the business and looks like an unfinished site.
The fix
- Open Settings, General and replace the Tagline (it still says "Just another WordPress site") with one short sentence about the business, or clear it if the title should only show the site name.
- If an SEO plugin controls the title (Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO or SEOPress), set the homepage title template in its settings instead, then reload the homepage and read the title in a private window.
