Change the canonical link to https on WordPress
Why it matters
The homepage is served over https, but its canonical link names the http address. That tells search engines to index the insecure version and can send visitors there from search results.
The fix
- Open Settings, General and change both the WordPress Address and the Site Address to start with https://. The canonical link is built from them.
- Also check the canonical field of your SEO plugin and clear any page cache afterwards.
